Professor Francisco Rico generously donated his personal library to the UAB Humanities Library, a collection we are gradually integrating.
Of particular note are his editions of El Quijote amassed throughout his lifetime (Valencia, 1605; Madrid, 1636-1637; Brussels, 1738, including Doré's edition), alongside valuable facsimile copies. These treasures were displayed at the exhibition Los Quijotes de la Autònoma.
The section devoted to Humanism, Renaissance literature, and culture forms a cornerstone of the collection. It features ancient editions of Petrarch and Boccaccio, complemented by an extensive compilation of studies and essays on these authors, as well as seminal figures like Angelo Poliziano, Leon Battista Alberti, Domizio Calderini, and Lorenzo Valla. Spanish Humanism, notably represented by Antonio de Nebrija, also occupies a significant place.
Covering topics ranging from the history of ancient printing to the picaresque novel, medieval Spanish and Latin literature, and modern European literature, the collection is nearly exhaustive. It often includes original language texts from the 18th century to the present day. Additionally, there is a substantial section dedicated to contemporary Spanish literature, particularly post-war works, and scientific bibliography on these subjects.
