Bibliographic exhibition of the Social Sciences Library on the philosopher and feminist activist Judith Butler, awarded with the Premi Internacional Catalunya 2021

25/04/2022

Awarded with the 33 International Prize Catalunya 2021, the philosopher and human rights activist Judith Butler will collect the award at the Palau de la Generalitat this Wednesday, April 27.

The jury highlighted that "her work has revolutionized and transformed feminist theory with her studies on gender, her activism for the rights of gays and lesbians and her support for the queer movement".

Judith Butler (1956, Ohio, USA) is a philosopher, professor at the University of California Berkeley and a human rights activist. With her work she has made important contributions to feminism, ethics and political philosophy, for which she is considered one of the most influential political voices of contemporary times.

Because of this event, the Social Sciences Library has prepared an exhibition to present his most significant books but also a small glimpse of his thought and his most representative theories.

We not only want to present her as the author of some reflections that have revolutionized and transformed feminist theory but also to deepen her firm position in the face of vulnerability, violence and collective forms of political action.

Philosopher, intellectual, literary critic, journalist, sociologist, writer, feminist, university professor, journalist, art theorist... We have more definitions but you have to come and meet them at our exhibition!

We wait for you!
