Activities organized by the UAB Libraries to commemorate March 8, International Working Women's Day

The UAB Libraries join the 8M celebration with the following proposals:

Library of Medicine

Medicina amb perspectiva de gènere: physical and virtual exhibition of books and other selected materials related to the subject. The exhibition highlights the problem of inequality in women's access to health.
Dones que inspiren en la Medicina: artistic exhibition by cartoonist and artist Agustín Bartolomé González. It is an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the inspiring contributions of women in the field of medicine.

The exhibitions, located in the entrance of the library, can be visited until March 22.

Communication Library and General Newspaper Library

"Strong" photographic exhibition: a collection of portraits of women that Núria Bayó has photographed throughout her travels. Until March 22 on the ground floor of the library.
Thread on X (@bchgUAB) on the presence of women in the early days of radio: based on the digitized collection of Ràdio Barcelona scripts that we have at the Digital Depository of Documents (DDD-UAB).

Humanities Library

Feminisme. Trenquem sostres de vidre ja!: bibliographic exhibition on the latest developments around the "glass ceiling" concept. Until March 22 on the ground floor of the library.

Social Sciences Library

Evolució de la presència de les dones a la Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona: bibliographic exhibition on the events on 8M organized by the faculties of Law, Economics and Business, and Politics and Sociology, highlighting that for the first time in the UAB history, three women are deans in the three faculties of social sciences at the same time. The evolution in figures of the presence of women at our university is also highlighted, based on the 4th Action Plan for gender equality of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Quadrennial 2019-2023. Until March 22 at the entrance on floor 0 of the library.

Science and Technology Library

Female self-defense workshop: a workshop that provides practical and useful tools to develop in different intimidating situations, and to manage reactions and emotions in an aggression. This workshop is part of the calendar of activities to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science at the UAB, and which has been jointly promoted by the Equality Commissions of the Faculties of Biosciences and Sciences, and the School of Engineering, and the Library of Science and Technology. Wednesday March 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the SAF, by the Món-Físic club. Places sold out.
