The UAB projects films of Hollywood legend Billy Wilder
The UAB cinema hall will host a film cycle dedicated to Billy Wilder (1906-2002), one of Hollywood's most important film directors and scriptwriters from the 1950s and 1960s.

The film cycle “I’m a writer, but then nobody’s perfect” refers to the epitaph on his grave, located in the Westwood Village Memorial Park cemetery in Los Angeles. A message that represents the irony he displayed in many of his scripts
The film cycle on Billy Wilder: I'm a writer but then nobody's perfect is an opportunity to once again enjoy some of the most well-known films created by the Austro-Hungarian-born film director, six-time Oscar Award winner thanks to his dramatic, tragical, romantic and comical approaches to films.
The film cycle, organised by the Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising, with the support of Cultura en Viu, will go from September 2022 to January 2023. During these months, monthly films will be projected at the UAB Cinema Hall. Each session will start first with a presentation by Ludovico Longhi, lecturer of the UAB Faculty of Communication Studies.
The audience will thus be able to enjoy these film projections, all in original version with subtitles in Spanish: Double Indemnity (1944), Sunset Boulevard (1950), Sabrina (1954), Some Like it Hot (1954) and The Apartment (1960).
The film projected in October will be Sunset Boulevard, winner of three Oscar Awards, which tells the story of Norma Desmond (played by Gloria Swanson), a well-known silent film actress who due to the fall of this film genre, is also forgotten and is no longer a celebrity.
In November, the film Sabrina will be screened, and will be the star of the films projected at the Cinema Hall. Sabrina Fairchild (played by Audrey Hepburn) is the daughter of the Larrabee's family chauffeur. After spending some time in Paris, attending cooking classes, Sabrina returns to the Larrabee's residence and an unrequited love triangle emerges with the family's two sons.
Towards the end of December, filmgoers will be able to watch Some Like it Hot, in which Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon) are two musician friends who must flee from gangsters after witnessing a crime occurring between two rival gangs. Both musicians will have to dress up as women and play in a women's band to escape getting caught by the gang members.
In January, The Apartment will be the last film projected in this cycle. The winner of five Oscars in 1960, the film narrates the story of C.C Baxter (played by Jack Lemmon), an insurance officer who loans his boss the keys to his apartment for his extramarital rendezvous. The situation changes when Baxter falls in love with one of his boss' lovers.
Double Indemnity, the story of an insurance agent (played by Fred MacMurray) who plans to murder one of his clients' husband to file a false accident insurance claim, was the first film to inaugurate this cycle. The film was screened on 27 September.
