The SDGs in the UAB Libraries during 2022

Since July 2022, libraries have been disseminating the actions we carry out to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015 the United Nations designed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), seventeen objectives designed to guide the agenda of governments, citizens and institutions around the world until 2030.

The Autonomous University of Barcelona joined the achievement of the SDGs through its 2018-2030 Strategic Plan and initiatives such as the Healthy and Sustainable Campus Plan 2018-2022.

The positioning of the UAB has made it easier for the Library Service to also participate. You can visit the website Sustainability in UAB Libraries to find out which SDGs we have focused on and how they align with our own Strategic Plan.

During 2022 we wanted to go a little further: we thought that a good way to make the SDGs known to the university community was to explain what actions we had carried out in the libraries.

That is why last July we started a dissemination campaign, under the hashtag #odsbibliotequesUAB, on our social networks. Every month we publish a string on the Twitter account @bibliotequesUAB and a video (reel) on the Instagram account @biblioteques_uab explaining how UAB Libraries contribute to achieving the SDGs.

This campaign, which will continue throughout 2023, aims to address the seventeen SDGs, although we are aware that some have a more indirect relationship than others with libraries and their functions.
