Registration for second semester artistic workshops to open on 1 February
The registrations for artistic workshops, courses, or the UAB Stable Groups will open on 1 February. These semester-long activities promoted by Cultura en Viu, which are part of four formation and creation classrooms (Music, Theatre, Dance and Writing), offer the opportunity to start or continue learning an artistic discipline with professionals. All proposals are available at reduced prices for university members and students can apply for academic recognition of ECTS credits. The registration period will be open until 24 February or until all places are filled.

At Cultura en Viu we want the UAB campus to become a space of constant artistic creation and formation. Each semester of the academic calendar, our service of promotion of cultural activities offers new courses and workshops of initiation or medium level of theatre, dance, music and writing. The annual proposal for the second semester of this academic year is: creative writing, intensive writing workshop, initiation to urban dance, voice technique, initiation to theatre performance in English, theatre and climate emergency, choir, orchestra and the 'Viu la Cultura' activity.
The Urban Dance Initiation course is a proposal directed by the teacher Rosa Lechón, lasting from 7 March to 11 May, which experiments with different hip-hop dance styles (popping, locking, etc.) and seeks to perfect the coordination, balance, rhythm and choreographic memory of students.
The Creative Writing advanced workshop is an activity that is taught by the teacher Jordi Gol, from 2 March to 27 April, which aims to delve into various writing techniques focused on narrative fiction through the analysis of different recognised works of universal literature. This proposal is a continuation of the workshop that was offered in the first semester, which brought the opportunity to know more about the necessary narrative techniques to improve expression and literary style in the process of writing short stories and micro-stories.
Moreover, an intensive writing workshop will be taught by the teacher Jordi Gol, from 8 March to 17 May, at the Sabadell Campus of the UAB. The aim of this workshop is to improve expression and literary style to be able to write short stories. This workshop cannot be validated as ECTS credits.
The Voice Technique workshop is an activity that is taught by the teacher Óliver Carrasco, from 28 February to 30 May, which offers theoretical and practical knowledge to develop, strengthen and care for voice. Every week, students will explore the techniques to achieve an adequate relaxation, an optimal breathing technique and a natural vocal emission that allows singing without straining.
The Initiation to Theatre Performance in English workshop is a proposal by Sophie Heydel, from 2 March to 4 May, which is focused on improving pronunciation, language and memory in English with proposals related to theatre performance.
The Theatre and Climatic Emergence workshop is a staging activity directed by Míriam Escurriola, whose main objective is to reflect and adapt the theatre to the ecological footprint creation. This activity reconsiders the creation process of a show from the simplicity and consciousness. This workshop will enable students to acquire a range of methods, ideas and techniques that can be used to create a play.
The different artistic courses and workshops mentioned above have limited places and can be validated for one ECTS credit. Remember you cannot validate than six ECTS credits for artistic-training activities per academic degree.
University members can also become a member of one of the musical groups (the UAB choir and orchestra) participating in concerts and performances that are organised on and away from the UAB campus. The members of both groups must attend regularly because they participate in many rehearsals and concerts that are planned throughout the academic year. Participation in the University Choir and Orchestra can be validated for two and a half and three ECTS credits respectively each semester.
Finally, there is still time to apply for the cultural card and enjoy the dance, music and theatre programme at the UAB Theatre, and the occasional screenings and film cycles that are programmed at the UAB Cinema. This activity offers students the possibility of validating two ECTS credits if they attend a certain number of activities and present a final review of one of them. Students can apply to receive this cultural card until March.
