As part of European Mobility Week and World Car-Free Day (22 September), the UAB is launching a car sharing website. The main objective of this new initiative is to promote sustainable and efficient mobility at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, one of the key points of the SDGs and of stragetic lines 2 and 3 of the UAB 2018-2024 Mobility Plan, as well as one of the objectives of the UAB's Campus SiS. More specifically, the website will allow those interested in car sharing to find other people interested in the same by consulting the database by city, days, or compatible timetables, so that in the end, there can be less cars but more occupants travelling to campus each day (according to the questionnaire only 1.21 people travel in each car) and thus a more efficient use of private vehicles.

The website adapts to all types of screens and allows to be used directly by clicking on the home screen thanks to a link that can be activated when members sign up.

On Thursday 21 September, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., an information stand will be set up at the Espai SiS for all those interested in discovering how the website works and to clear up any doubts or questions. All those who sign up will also enter to win a sustainable weekend getaway for two.

Users can find more information about how the car sharing website works and access to the car sharing website here.

In addition to launching the website, other complementary activities have been organised to celebrate European Mobility Week:

  • Talk on the UAB Mobility and Mobility Policies' questionnaire. The debate is organised by the Institute for Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB).
  • Construction of a new bike garage at the new Eix Central Sud bus stop to encourage university members to use their bikes as a means of sustainable transport.
