Solidarity campaign with Valencia
The UAB would like to express its solidarity with Valencia and its condolences for the victims of the storm that seriously affected the region and other surrounding areas on 29 October. The University has launched a fundraiser as a way for its community to help Valencians as they recover from the largest natural disaster ever seen in the region in terms of material damage and human lives.

Several initiatives to help the victims of Valencia have been proposed thanks to the innate and commendable solidarity of the people forming part of our university community. However, given the current lack of precise instructions on behalf of the local authorities (something that is fully understandable under these circumstances), the proposals are difficult to implement, either because of the type of aid needed or because of the difficulty to transport objects.
Therefore, for now, at the UAB we believe that the best way to help the thousands of affected people is to raise money through Mecenatge UAB, our crowdfunding platform, through which individuals, entities, organisations and companies can collaborate in solidarity with Valencia.
How your donations will be spent
The UAB's Fundació Autònoma Solidària (FAS), the recipient of the donations collected, will be in contact with universities and entities of the region to evaluate specific needs and thus channel the aid accordingly. The donations will be used, in particular, to cover needs in the educational field.
The FAS is a university social entity promoted by the UAB whose mission is to provide tools to help the university community become part of an active, critical citizenship and an agent of social transformation. The FAS implements a variety of university social action projects, such as the UAB Solidarity Fund and the UAB Refugee programme, which provides support to students seeking refuge.
