Iñaki Gabilondo to receive the Ithaca Award on Travel, Communication and Adventure Day

The Communication and Education Office of the UAB and the Master's Degree in Travel Journalism, with the support of Fundació Autònoma Solidària, organise the 12th Conference on Travel, Communication and Adventure: "Roads and Borders". The event, which will focus on cross-border journalism and the paths of dialogue, will take place on 4 December at the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Communication Studies, UAB.

The conference, which aims to become a meeting point for all lovers of travel and communication and for enthusiasts of committed journalism, will start at 9 a.m. and will feature presentations by Xavier Aldekoa, Txell Feixas, Gerard Quintana, Marina Romero, Martín Caparrós, Rosa María Calaf and José Manuel Pérez Tornero, among other journalism and communication professionals.

In addition, Iñaki Gabilondo, journalist and radio presenter with more than fifty years of experience in this field, will receive the Ítaca 2023 Award in recognition of his career. This is an award given by the UAB Communication and Education Office as a tribute to a career committed, through journalistic work, to human dignity, diversity and equality. In previous editions, it has been awarded to personalities such as Martín Caparrós, Pepa Roma, Rosa María Calaf, Jordi Évole and Sebastião Salgado.

The conference will also present some of the results of the projects "Los caminos del encuentro, cartografía de rutas temáticas para la recuperación del patrimonio histórico de las confesiones religiosas de España - Un viaje del ayer al hoy" and "Frontera crónica. Cross-border journalism and co-creation workshop for the promotion of a critical look and the construction of other narratives on violence, women and migrations", promoted by the Communication and Education Office of the UAB.
