Probability, statistics and complex systems: interactions and cross-fertilization

On 24 October at 12 noon, the Auditorium of the Centre for Mathematical Research (CRM) at the Faculty of Sciences will host a conference by Alvaro Corral entitled Probability, Statistics, and Complex Systems: Interactions and Cross-fertilizations. This conference, which also will be available online via Teams, will focus on the fitting of power law distributions and related distributions, as well as applications to geosciences, epidemics, linguistics, music, and demography. Special attention will be given to what is known as the scaling property and the speaker will also show how branching processes can explain some of these properties. Registration is required.
