Science Carriage Expert's Seat: Let's talk about regenerative agriculture and high altitude lands
Description:
Sara Marañón holds a PhD in Ecology and her research focuses on the effects of global change and the disturbances caused to ecosystems. At the UAB Science Carriage Expert's Seat, she will converse with passengers on regenerative agriculture, which aims to replenish the soil and guarantee that it has enough organic material and carbon to help it continue to be fertile land. Regenerative agriculture is based on the basic pillars of agriculture: soil and its quality, and how this relates to its capacity to store or release CO2.
The journey will begin at 10:42 a.m. on the FGC train travelling from the Universitat Autònoma to the Plaça Catalunya station.

Seminar "Una reflexión sobre las prácticas burocráticas frente a los derechos indígenas"
Description:
The Permanent Seminar “Derechos Otros” makes its first lecture of the 2024-2025 course. The lecture will be given by the lawyer and anthropologist Karla Montserrat Barrera Garrido, who will present A Reflection on Bureaucratic Practices Concerning Indigenous Rights. She will address the tensions that arise behind the recognition of indigenous justice, considering the different legal notions handled by the state apparatus and its positivist legal vision.
Dr Marc H. Vallés, a professor in the Area of History of Law at UAB and coordinator of the seminar, will moderate the lecture.

Challenges of AI in Business: Innovation and Regulation

By Eduard Blasi, Legal Director at Data Guardians and Co-founder of the TechAndLaw channel. The moderation will be given by Drs. Santiago Robert and Lídia Ballesta, lecturers at the Faculty of Law and coordinators of the UAB Law Alumni Network.
In this session we will explore the main challenges faced by companies, and in particular, their professionals, when integrating artificial intelligence into their processes.
In addition, we will analyse applicable regulatory aspects, as well as the impact on different areas and sectors. The opportunities that AI offers to transform business models and improve competitiveness in an increasingly demanding digital environment will also be addressed.
