Next June 19 at 2:20 p.m., the presentation of Christian Fons-Rosen will take place
Dr. Christian Fons-Rosen is assistant professor of economics at UC Merced and researcher at MPI Munich and CEPR. His areas of interest include the economics of science and innovation, firm productivity and work. His work has been funded by the Horizon 2020 Project of the European Union and the Spanish Ministry of Education, among other agencies. Before joining UC Merced in 2018, he was an associate professor at Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona) and has collaborated with the Bank of Spain and the Bank of England. He has held visiting positions at UC San Diego and LMU Munich.

Presentation Ana Tur Prats
Description:
Next July 4 at 2:20 p.m. the presentation of Ana Tur Prats will take place
Ana Tur-Prats is assistant professor of Economics at UC Merced. His research covers topics of culture and institutions, gender economics, economic history, political economy and health economics. Some of her recent work examines the cultural norms and systems that sustain violence against women. Other recent work focuses on the formation and persistence of social capital, and the long-term effects of conflict on trust and voting behavior. His work has appeared in the Review of Economics and Statistics and the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization. Before joining UC Merced, she was a postdoctoral fellow at Pompeu Fabra University. He obtained a degree in Law and a degree in Economic Sciences from Pompeu Fabra University (Spain), and a Ph.D. PhD in Applied Economics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

XXXVIII Conferences of Industrial Economy
Description:
The Department of Economics of Universidad Pablo de Olavide (Seville, Spain) is pleased to host the XXXVIII Conference on Industrial Economics, which will be held in Seville, Spain, on September 5-6, 2024.
The Conferences are an annual international meeting of researchers in Industrial Economics organized by the Industrial Economics Committee of the Spanish Economic Association. Since 1985, the meeting has provided a forum for researchers to discuss their work in progress, share ideas and network.
We welcome submissions of high-quality empirical and theoretical work in industrial organization and related fields. Authors may submit more than one paper, but only one accepted paper may be submitted. All papers must be written in English and submitted as PDF files with a maximum size of 3 MB via the online submission platform available at:

The deadline for submitting papers is April 15, 2024. Authors will receive the status of their contributions by May 15, 2024.

Science Carriage Expert's Seat: Let's talk about energetic transition
Description:
Daniel Campos and Xavier Álvarez hold PhDs in Physics and their research focuses on the physics of biological and social systems and the transport of energy. In the Expert's Seat of the UAB Science Carriage, the two will converse with passengers on energetic transition, a change from non-renewable energy sources to a model in which the energy used is more sustainable, and how citizens play an important role in this process.
The journey will begin at 9:28 a.m. on the FGC train travelling from Plaça Catalunya to the Universitat Autònoma train station.

The revolutionary potential of a caring democracy
Description:
Joan C. Tronto, emeritus professor of the City University of New York and the University of Minnesota, and one of the greatest exponents of the ethics of care and democracy, will visit the UAB and offer a conference at the Rectorat building on 10 October at 4 p.m. The conference will be open to all members of the UAB community. Organised by the UAB Department of Philosophy, the conference is entitled "El potencial revolucionario de una democracia del cuidado" and will focus on the revolutionary potential of a care democracy.
In her books Moral Boundaries, Caring Democracy and Who cares?, Tronto details a conceptual approach to care. Her ideas have inspired sectors such as nursing and the processes of humanising health, as well as ethics, sociology and the study of sex division in the workplace, economics, political sciences, and in the art and architectural world, as well as other areas.
