The 13th European conference on ecological restoration to be held on 5 - 9 September 2022 in Alicante (Spain) is the event where experts from different restoration sectors (forests, wetlands, rivers, agroecosystems, marine areas, urban environments, extractive industries, etc.) have the chance to sit together and learn from each other. It represents an excellent opportunity to foster efficient reciprocal exchanges between managers, decision and policymakers and the academia across Europe.
To obtain all the benefits that ecological restoration can provide and ensure a fair distribution of wealth, we must promote its practice and strive to increase the quality of restoration programs. Bridges between science, practice and policy must be built, based on scientific excellence, to better understand socio-ecological systems and their management.

The UAB's Institute for Ancient Middle Eastern Studies (IEPOA) organises several activities to commemorate two important achievements that marked a before and after in Egyptology and human sciences in general: the deciphering of the Rosetta Stone 200 years ago, and the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb 100 years ago.

The first activity, entitled "Je tiens el affaire! – Jean-François Champollion", celebrates the 200th anniversary of the deciphering of hieroglyphics, made possible thanks to this French historian, considered to be the father of Egyptology, and his studies on the engravings found on the Rosetta Stone.

The event will be presented by Josep Cervelló, lecturer in Egyptology at the UAB and director of the IEPOA, who will give an informative talk on the subject which will include the participation of the musical band Neteru Ensemble and rhapsode Miquel Santaeulalia.

The organisation of the event includes the collaboration of the Department of Antiquity and Middle Ages Studies, the Office of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities, the Office of the Vice Rector of Communication and Culture, and the Humanities Library.

The Plant Synthetic Biology Conference will take place in Barcelona, Spain on September 19-21, 2022. This Conference is jointly organised by CRAG (Barcelona, Spain) and the CEPLAS-Cluster of Excellence on Plant Sciences, University of Düsseldorf (Germany). The meeting will bring together global leaders in the field and it will cover the most recent advances in plant synthetic biology, with an emphasis on enabling technologies for reprogramming plant cells, current agricultural and industrial applications, the development of new green models and several perspectives on the ethical and societal aspects of synthetic biology.

The Plant Synthetic Biology Conference offers a great platform for interaction and the opportunity to discuss new ideas, challenges and opportunities in the field. It also offers the chance for young synthetic biologists to present their work and interact with other mindlike individuals.

The UAB's 1st Bioblitz took place in spring 2022 and allowed participants to explore and sample different animal and plants species found around the campus' natural surroundings. This citizen science initiative formed part of the project on raising awareness on the UAB's biodiversity and sustainability (Sensibilització i recerca per transformar educant i incidint per la millora de la biodiversitat i la sostenibilitat al campus de la UAB). The project is coordinated by Sandra Saura, researcher at the UAB Department of Animal Biology, Plant Biology and Ecology, and at CREAF.

Now, the researcher will present the results of the 1st Bioblitz in a conference at the entrance hall of the Science and Technology Library, which is also hosting an exhibition of the different activities conducted during those two days, which included the participation of over 230 people.

The UAB leads the European project Se-bioFORtified ALfaLfa for Se-enriched Dairy products (Se4All) to produce selenium-enriched milk products and cheeses by biofortifying alfalfa with this micronutrient through foliar application. The aim is to find a solution to reach an adequate level of selenium in diets poor in this mineral.

The project organises a science café at El Cau Restaurant (UAB). The talk will be given by Roberto Boada, researcher at the UAB Department of Chemistry. This conference will allow professionals and researchers to share their knowledge about chemistry and biofortification with students. The interaction with the public will also be through gamification activities during the event.
