Three TransMedia Catalonia researchers among the 10,000 most prominent women scientists in Spain.

 Pilar Orero - Anna Matamala - Carme-Mangiron - TransMedia Catalonia - UAB

Researchers Pilar Orero, Anna Matamala, and Carme Mangiron, members of the TransMedia Catalonia research group in the Department of Translation and Interpreting and East Asian Studies at the UAB, have been included in the ranking of the 10,000 top-performing women scientists in Spain, compiled by the Cybermetrics Lab (IPP-CSIC). Pilar Orero holds a prominent position (885), among the top 1,000. Anna Matamala ranks 1,842, while Carme Mangiron is listed at 4,669.

This ranking, published in February 2025 by bibliometrics expert Isidro F. Aguillo, includes the profiles of Spanish women researchers working both in Spain and abroad, as well as international researchers affiliated with Spanish institutions. The inclusion criteria are based on a Google Scholar profile with a valid ORCID ID and an h-index of 14 or above.

The inclusion of Orero, Matamala, and Mangiron in this list not only highlights their individual academic impact but also strengthens the role of TransMedia Catalonia as an international reference in research on accessibility, audiovisual media, and new technologies. Pilar Orero is a pioneer in media accessibility studies and has led numerous European projects at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Anna Matamala has conducted research in technology, audio description, and easy-to-read language. Carme Mangiron is a leading global expert in game localization and accessibility.
