The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the UN telecommunications agency, is holding its 2024 edition from 27 to 31 May in Geneva. One of the highlights on its agenda, which includes high-level sessions and presentations, is the WSIS24 awards ceremony, which recognises the transformative work of projects and public and private entities.

The YoungArcHers project, conducted among other entities by TransMedia Catalonia, a UAB and AccessCat Network affiliated research group, received the WSIS2024 award in the AL C7. ICT applications: benefits in all aspects of life — E-learning.

YoungArcHers has been recognised for its transformative, accessible, and inclusive educational work. The project aims to provide efficient training materials and accessible interdisciplinary tools, designed to support teachers in motivating their students to discover the European dimension of their local built heritage and develop participatory skills.

Estel·la Oncins, TransMedia Catalonia researcher, received the award on behalf of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, at a ceremony presided by Doreen Bodgan-Martin, Secretary-General of the ITU. The AccessCat Network was also present at the awards ceremony, attending as a member of the ITU through the UAB, the coordinating entity of the network.
