Objective:
— Provide financial aid to students enrolled in the PhD programme in Translation and Intercultural Studies who attended a scientific conference in 2023.
Applicant requirements:
- Be enrolled during the 2022/23 academic year in the PhD programme in Translation and Intercultural Studies.
- Having obtained a positive evaluation at the last yearly review of the PhD programme (except for first-year doctoral students).
- Having attended a conference during the year 2023.
Grant description:
Funding: 200 euros gross
Number of grants available: 10
Application:
Those interested in applying for the grant should send an email to the address d.traduccio@uab.cat with the subject CONGRESS AID 2023 and the following documentation attached
- Certificate of conference attendance
- Abstract of the paper presented
Submission:
The opening date for submissions is 11/27/2023, and the deadline is 05/12/2023.
Evaluation of applications and resolution:
The evaluation of the applications received will be based on the following criteria:
- Course year of the PhD candidate:
- 1st-year students: 0.25 points
- 2nd-year students: 0.5 points
- 3rd to 6th years students: 1 point
- Activity at the conference:
- Attendance only: 0.25 points
- Poster presentation: 0.5 points
- Oral paper presentation: 1 point
- Authorship of the communication:
- Co-author: 0.25 points
- First author: 0.5 points
- Co-author + Presenting author: 0.75 points
- First author + Presenting author: 1 point
- Geographic scope of the conference:
- Local: 0.25 points
- National: 0.5 points
- International: 1 point
Applications will be ranked according to the score obtained when applying the rating criteria, and grants will be awarded to the first 10. In the event of a tie for the tenth position, priority will be given to applications from people not in a position to receive other grants from the Department or national or international institutions (including scholarships). If the tie remains, priority will be given to applications from students who have not yet incorporated a conference presentation into their academic record at Sigma. If the tie is not resolved by applying these provisions, the allocation will be made by drawing lots. The resolution of the grants will be publicised no later than 12/18/2023 through publication on the website of the Department of Translation and Interpreting and East Asian Studies, https://www.uab.cat/ca/traduccio-interpretacio-estudis-asia-oriental. The final decision adopted by the PhD programme’s Academic Committee (CAPD) will be final and cannot be appealed.
