Following the end of the academic year and the partnerships, the organisations that took part in an SL project have taken stock and assessed the work. Some have done so externally, through videos, interviews, articles, etc. The following are two examples:

Mònica Buliart: “SL offers young people a glimpse at other realities”

Through an interview on the website Xarxanet, Mònica Buliart from the Acollida i Esperança Foundation, which cooperated with the subject Educational and Psychosocial Intervention Placement (optional year 4 subject in the Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, taught by Marta Padrós and Marisela Montenegro), explains what it means to the organisation to establish cooperation agreements through service-learning with the UAB and how it benefits the young people who take part.

In their video, they explain how the students contribute to the organisation’s aim of helping and creating safe spaces for socially marginalised people, to provide support and guide them towards reintegration. It also features students from the subject, who discuss their involvement and the added value that taking part in a service-learning project has for them as students. Check it out!

End of an academic year with numerous university partnerships!

The organisation MEL Environmental Education, on the other hand, recently posted a blog entry in which it discusses the three university service-learning projects in which it was involved this academic year, two of which were with our university.

The closest partnership was with Mariona Espinet and Èlia Tena, lecturers from the Faculty of Educational Sciences’ Department of Teaching of Mathematics and Experimental Sciences, who supervised four final degree projects with SL methodology from the Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, in which the students constructed learning situations based on the organisation’s story Cuques, on sou? [Insects, Where Are You?] for nursery school classrooms.

In addition, the organisation once again cooperated with the subject Environmental Education and Communication (optional year 4 subject in the Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences at the UAB, taught this year by Marta Fonolleda), in which two groups of students created teaching materials for the primary-school workshops “Sustainable Breakfasts” and “Let’s Unplastify!”.
