Historical background

The Department of Psychobiology and Health Sciences Methodology is one of the four main departments that develop teaching activities at the  Faculty of Psychology. The department was created in compliance with an agreement by the Board of Governors of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) on 14th December 1995, but it has precedents in the former Department of Health Psychology of the Faculty of Psychology.

Therefore, the teaching, administration and services staff of the current Department of Psychobiology and Health Sciences Methodology, as well as the subjects given by its academic staff, have belonged to two departments with different names: the Department of Health Psychology (composed of the areas of Methodology, Psychobiology, Social Psychology and Personality and Psychological Assessment and Treatment) and the current department of Psychobiology and Health Sciences Methodology  (which is made up of the areas of Methodology for the Behavioural Sciences and Psychobiology).
