Vicenç Caldés i Arús Collection

Vicenç Caldés (1886-1969) was a prominent writer and translator who also worked in the field of graphic arts. He wrote theatrical works, such as Una boira (1908) and Quan les arrels han mort (1910), as well as narratives like Goig infinit and Deslliurança. Notably, as a translator, he adapted William Shakespeare's A Winter's Tale (1909).

In addition, he was an active contributor to various political and theatrical magazines, including Cu-cut!, La Tralla, De Tots Colors, Talia, and Teatre Català, among others. It is also worth mentioning that he was the father of the writer  Pere Calders.

Since 1995, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona has housed the documentary archives of Pere Calders, thanks to the efforts of the Department of Catalan Philology. It was through this collection that Vicenç Caldés's materials were received.

Collection description: The collection comprises part of his personal and professional documentation, including correspondence (notably letters exchanged with his son), creative works, and a selection of his library and newspaper archive.
