Piquer i Jover Collection
Josep-Joan Piquer i Jover (1911-1985) was a distinguished pedagogue and educator at the Escola-Granja de Plegamans, part of the Trust for Abandoned Children, under the guidance of the eminent pedagogue Josep Pedragosa. He worked at the Superior Council for the Protection of Minors. In 1945 he received the Fundació Pelfort i Xinxó prize from the Societat Econòmica Barcelonesa d’Amics del País for his influential work, El niño abandonado y delincuente, published in 1946.
He focused his research on children's rights, the protection of minors, adoption and assistance for children, juvenile delinquency, family issues, and the social challenges faced by families, creating a collection of significant interest.
Part of this collection originated from the former General Library of the UAB, while another portion was donated by his daughter, Rosa Maria Piquer i Pomés, and the Arxiu Comarcal d’Osona.
