Personal Memory Collection
These personal memories are preserved in various documentary forms, including letters, diaries, memoirs, autobiographies, account books, and chronicles. They reveal valuable information about family, heritage, and historical events. Many of these documents have been found in personal and heritage archives, as well as in private homes, and they are particularly associated with urban life, such as guild activities, as well as rural life related to farmhouses and country estates.
The UAB, through its Manuscripts Research Group (Department of Modern and Contemporary History) and the Humanities Library, is developing a Personal Memory Archive at an European level. This initiative fosters connections with prominent institutions in Italy, France, and United Kingdom, aiming to promote the history of Catalonia both nationally and internationally. The database currently spans from the late Middle Ages to the 19th century.
