Josep Pedreira Collection

Josep Pedreira (1917-2003) was a Catalan editor and a notable figure in the literary world. He founded the Catalan poetry collection Els Llibres de l'Óssa Menor, where he published works by authors including Salvador Espriu, Miquel Martí i Pol, Joan Oliver, Carles Riba, and Joan Vinyoli. He also established the Óssa Menor Prize, which was later renamed the Carles Riba Prize, and initiated the poetry and essay collection Les quatre estacions.

As an author, he published the poetry collection El llibre dels verns (1985) and the memoir Soldats catalans a la Roja i Negra (1936-1939), in which he shared his experiences on the front during the Spanish Civil War.

After his death, his heirs donated his collection to the Jordi Arbonès Chair, which subsequently deposited it at the Humanities Library, where it has been catalogued through collaboration between the Library and the Department of Catalan Philology.
