Josep Egozcue Collection

Josep Egozcue i Cuixart, born in 1940 and passed away in 2006 in Barcelona, was one of the pioneers in Spain in the research of assisted reproduction techniques, particularly those that enabled in vitro fertilisation. He was also one of the founders of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), where he served as Professor Emeritus. Additionally, he held the positions of General Secretary and Vice-Rector for External Relations and Campus Affairs under the leadership of Rector Ramon Pascual. During this period, among other achievements, the first democratic statutes of the UAB were drafted.

A Doctor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona, with a specialisation in Cell Biology, Egozcue was a Professor of Cell Biology at the UAB. He also led the Cytogenetics Group at the "Vicent Villar Palasí" Institute of Biotechnology and Biomedicine (IBB). Moreover, he directed the Genetics Department at the Oregon Regional Primate Center in the United States and the Cytogenetics Department at the Institute of Cytological Research in Valencia.

Collection description: The bequest, donated by the epartment of Cell Biology, Physiology and Immunology to the Science and Technology Library, includes the collection of offprints from the research groups linked to Dr. Egozcue, as well as various bibliographic resources. In total, the collection comprises 735 offprints and monographs.
