Institut Ramon Llull Translated Catalan Literature Collection

This translated Catalan literature collection, donated by the Institut Ramon Llull, which was established through the Jordi Arbonès Chair in 2013, includes 700 volumes of works by Catalan authors, making it one of the most comprehensive collections of its kind in the world.

It features a diverse range of authors, spanning from medieval chronicles to prominent contemporary figures. The translations encompass a wide array of languages, including nearby languages such as Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese, as well as more exotic languages like Japanese, Turkish, and Vietnamese. It also includes widely spoken languages like German, English, Russian, and Chinese, alongside lesser-known languages like Basque, Danish, Slovene, and Occitan. While novels are the most predominant genre, the collection also showcases poetry, theatre, essays, diaries, and children’s literature.
