Historical Statistics collection in microform
The Historical Statistics collection (18th-20th centuries) in microform is a resource that the Library acquired in the early 1990s. It features a selection of documents containing statistical information, reproduced in microform by Chadwyck-Healey (now ProQuest) and Research Publications.
Collection description: The collection comprises several sub-collections:
1. International Population Census Publications, Europe: This sub-collection includes 72 titles (monographs) of historical population censuses from European countries, spanning the 18th to the 20th centuries, presented in microfilm format.
2. Official Statistical Serials: Consisting of 55 statistical compendiums from the 19th to the 20th centuries, this sub-collection features geographical, economic, financial, social, and demographic statistics published by official bodies in various countries across Europe, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, presented in microfiche format. It includes the following sub-collections:
- African Official Statistical Serials, 1867-1982
- European Official Statistical Serials, 1841-1984
- Latin American and Caribbean Official Statistical Serials, 1821-1982
3. Economic Surveys: This sub-collection contains economic studies prepared by the Trade Department of the English Embassy in each country, offering economic, financial, and commercial information primarily sourced from official reports. We hold about 30 titles corresponding to European countries, most of which start in 1921, with some extending to 1957.
4. Annual Reports of the World's Central Banks: This selection includes 27 annual reports from European central banks, available in microform, covering the years from 1946 to 1983.
