Digital Competencies Course (MOOC)
The UAB Libraries, together with the UAB IT Services, offer the MOOC "Digital Competencies for the Academic and Professional World" to the general public. This course is designed to meet the digital competence goals set by the European Commission in the European Digital Skills Framework for Citizens, which defines five key areas of competence.
The course is organised into four weeks, though participants can complete it at their own pace. Its primary goal is to provide the knowledge and skills needed for the academic and professional world, focusing particularly on the first three areas of competence defined by the European Commission: information and data literacy, communication and collaboration, and digital content creation.
It is expected that in the future, the course will be expanded to cover the other two areas of competence.
This course and its contents are open to everyone, but obtaining the certificate confirming completion of the course comes with an additional cost. However, any member of the UAB community can obtain the certificate free of charge.
To access the course, you must log in to the Coursera for UAB platform or register for the first time using your UAB email account as your username and a specific password. Once the course is completed, the corresponding certificate will be available in your profile under the «Achievements» section.
Additionally, people working or studying at the UAB have access to over 3,000 courses offered by universities in the Coursera Partner Consortium, and can obtain certificates free of charge. When logging in, if the course you have chosen is not offered by the UAB, you should select "Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona" on Coursera, where you can view course information and check whether registration is free, sponsored by the UAB, or part of the institution's learning programme.
