Several music and sound effects audiovisual resources ara available for academic use.

Background Music for Video: Licences + The Best Music Sites. A collection of websites offering background music for videos, many of which have public domain or Creative Commons (CC) licences.

CCMixter. Remixes and samples with Creative Commons licences. Each sound includes its specific licence.

CCTRAX. Music with various Creative Commons licences. Please read their terms of use. Allows searching by licence.

Europeana. The EU digital library with video and audio archives. Each resource includes its licence, and many are in the public domain. Check the Music section.

Extreme Music. Database, subscribed to by the UAB, that allows listening to music of all genres. The music can be downloaded for use in educational productions of UAB studies. For other uses, permission is required.

FMA: Free Music Archive. A powerful database of music with Creative Commons licences. Read their Licence guide.

FreeSound. Sounds and music. A project by UPF under a CC licence. Each sound includes its specific licence, and registration is required to download.

Incompetech.com. Offers a wide range of downloadable files with CC licences, although there are two types of licences available. It also features extensive search options.

Internet Archive- Audio.Includes recordings, music, radio programmes, and more. CC licences and in the public domain. Read the rights information on the "About" tab.

Jamendo. It has a free section (Jamendo music) and a paid one. In the free section, you will find songs with a CC licence. Registration is required to download music.

Openverse. Search engine that helps find images (illustrations, photos, clipart) and audio files; it is always necessary to verify the specific licence they have.

Pixabay. Images and videos with a CC0 license (public domain). Pixabay licence. Pixabay is available in various languages.

SoundCloud. Social network for musicians and producers. You can search for music and limit the results by the type of use you intend for it.

Television tunes. Collection of TV theme songs, mostly from the US, that can be downloaded in MP3. Review their Legal section carefully, as usage rights are limited.

Archivo sonoro. Sound archive, a project promoting the importance of sound files and listening to the environment, all under CC-BY-NC licence unless stated otherwise.

BBC sound effects. 16,000 BBC sound effects available to listen to or download in WAV format. The BBC licence allows their usage for personal, educational, or research purposes.
