Conference: Measuring the World

Associated with the exhibition of the same name that we currently have and until April 11 at the Library of Science and Technology, Dr. Aline Concha, Department of Geology, curator of the exhibition, will offer a conference within the La Tarima activity cycle, commenting on the well-known discussion between Newton and Descartes about the "Figure of the Earth" and how their dispute gave rise to a whole series of scientific and exploration expeditions funded by the great colonial powers (France, England, Spain). Of these historical facts, geology, current geodesy and geophysics are the true heirs.
