The event provided an opportunity to reflect on key topics related to Global Justice, such as peace and non-violence, environmental justice, the feminist perspective, critical interculturality, economic and social justice, and power relations and governance.

During the two Monday afternoons, the following lectures and workshops took place:

  • Lecture by Cécile Barbeito, researcher at Cultura de Pau: "Geographies That Are Not a Weapon for War."
  • Lecture by Josep Vila, professor at the Department of Geography at the University of Girona: "Ethics and Environmental Justice in the Context of the Global Crisis: Reflections from the Anthropocene."
  • Workshop by Jordi Royo, educational innovation technician at CESIRE: "The Purposes of Geography in Learning Situations and Projects."
  • Lecture by Jordi Grau, professor at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the UAB: "Debunking Distortions: Tools to Combat Misinformation in the Classroom (and Beyond)."
  • Lecture by Núria Font, professor at the Department of Geography at the University of Girona: "Social and Spatial Inequalities Through Cartography."

On the morning of Saturday, the 22nd, a field trip took place in Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Montcada i Reixac, and Barcelona, guided by Professor Oriol Nel·lo. The route provided an analysis of urban development, mobility, and environmental management in various neighborhoods and key infrastructures.

The group visited Can Zam Park, the neighborhoods of Les Oliveres and Singuerlín, the Estret de Montcada, and the La Ribera industrial area, as well as emblematic sites such as the Casa de l’Aigua and the Rec Comtal. The role of the Neighborhood Law and urban regeneration projects in areas such as Can Sant Joan, Vallbona, and Torre Baró was also discussed. In addition to Professor Oriol Nel·lo, the trip included the participation of Geography Department faculty members Asunción Blanco, Anna Ortiz, Albert Pèlachs, and Ana Vera.

The Argó Geography Day was organized by the Argó Geography team, the Department of Geography, and the Institute of Education Sciences (ICE) at the UAB.
