On Friday, March 28, the third seminar of the Geography and Gender Research Group for the 2024-2025 academic year will take place.
The seminar will be conducted by Joos Droogleever Fortuijn (Department of Geography, Planning and International Development Studies, University of Amsterdam) under the title:
“The changing concept of gender in Anglophone international geographical journals, 2013-2024”
This seminar will analyze the evolution of the concept of gender in 46 international geography journals over the past 12 years. It will address changes in themes and concepts used, shifting from a focus on women to a broader perspective that includes sexual identities and LGBTIQ+ categories. Additionally, it will discuss the distribution of authorship by gender and geographic origin, as well as the increase in publications by authors from non-English-speaking and lower-income countries.
Following this, Chiara Bergonzini, a PhD candidate at the University of Milan-Bicocca, Department of Sociology and Social Research, will present the development of her work under the title:
“Food transition, urban governance, and gender equality: the role of interstitial space between alternative food networks and urban food policies in Milan and Barcelona”.
This activity is linked to the PhD Program in Geography.
