The PhD Program in Geography organizes the training activity "A multi-level model of housing affordability and commuting", by Benjamin Irvine.
Description: Are high housing costs driving longer commuting times? A multi-level model will be presented which assesses the role of regional housing affordability on commuting times in the UK Annual Population Survey. The strength of multi-level regression models is their ability to simultaneously estimate the effects of both regional and individual level predictors thereby enabling the introduction of socio-geographical contextuality into the analysis of survey data. This talk will focus on the rationale for multi-level models in geography as well as the concrete methods of data preparation, model selection and interpretation of the results.
To attend the training, prior registration is required at the following registration form.
