Next Friday, February 2, the third Seminar of the Geography and Gender Group of the academic year 2023-2024 will take place.
The following researchers will speak:
Natalia Ribas-Mateos, Maria Zambrano researcher.
"A cartography of mobilities: from sexual violence to forms of solidarity."
In this conference we will review new forms of solidarity (or non-solidarity) in relation to diasporas, gender violence and humanitarian borders in the Mediterranean and in some global cities. The research presents a mapping of mobilities integrating two years of individual ethnography (February 2022-February 2024). In this session we will summarize the conclusions drawn from this long and intense research journey.
Maria Borràs Escayola, PhD student at the University of Girona.
"Representations of climate change from a feminist perspective. Exploring new methodologies: the WPR approach and body-territory."
In this speech I will talk about the research I am carrying out for my doctoral thesis. How is the phenomenon of climate change being represented from a feminist perspective? On the one hand, we will talk about what are the official and alternative discourses of climate change public policies at two scales (Spain and Catalonia). On the other hand, we will also see how people are living it organized in social movements for the defense of the territory that is being harassed in the implementation of these policies, specifically in the dimensions of energy and water. We will explore the two methodologies I have used to carry out these analyses: the WPR approach (What's the Problem Represented to be?) and the body-territory methodology.
The activity is linked to the PhD in Geography program.
