Desaf·IA returns for its third edition on 14 May, from 10.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., at the study hall in the RR building on plaça Cívica. UAB students and alumni will have one morning to come up with solutions to social and environmental challenges, working in teams and supported by artificial intelligence tools. 

There is no need to bring a team or a pre-existing idea. The members of the winning teams will receive individual 60-euro vouchers to spend at Abacus.

Emprèn UAB has published the practical guide Entrepreneurship at the UAB, a resource designed to support the university community in turning ideas into impactful projects.

The Emprèn UAB space at Plaça Cívica has hosted this Wednesday the Demo Day of the new edition of the "Visionaris" course, the UAB's introduction to entrepreneurship programme. A total of 14 projects were presented in pitch format, three of which have been selected by an expert jury to receive expert mentoring to continue their development.

The Chair in Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation at the UAB has opened the call for entries for the 2026 Eines Awards, an initiative that aims to recognise and promote projects with a positive social impact, fostering social transformation through innovation and entrepreneurship. Entries can be submitted until 15 April 2026.

On 3 March the UAB took part in several activities held at the 4 Years From Now (4YFN) event as a member of the Barcelona Knowledge Alliance (BKA). At the event, Rector Javier Lafuente and other representatives of the UAB community participated in debates and presentations that highlighted the role of university research in generating innovation, creating knowledge-bassed companies, and developing solutions that benefit society and the economy.

Once more, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) will be attending the 4 Years From Now (4YFN) start-up fair, taking place from 2 to 5 March as part of the activities programmed under the Barcelona Mobile World Congress (MWC). The stand will be giving visibility to spin-off companies and entrepreneurial projects launched by researchers, students and alumni.

The competition is aimed at young people aged 18 to 30, who can take part in teams of 2 or 3 in the Senior Category to solve real-life challenges proposed by companies and organisations, or to submit their own project.

At the Grand Final, three winning teams will be selected and will receive a trip to London to develop their project, explore the entrepreneurial ecosystem and take part in mentoring sessions.

Registration is open from 26 January to 19 February (2:00 pm).

The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) is an international competition for university students who run a business while studying. Taking part offers a chance to progress to the European and global rounds and, at the final stage, to compete for cash prizes (a US$100,000 global prize pool), as well as to receive feedback and connect with an entrepreneurial network, according to the organisers.

On 26 March 2026, from 12:30 to 13:30, the Espai Emprèn UAB (above the bar at Plaça Cívica) will host a The Entrepreneurs’ Corner session focused on Clau Mestra, a project promoted by Sostre Cívic that has refurbished the former Teachers’ Houses in La Floresta to create affordable cooperative housing.

On 26 March 2026, from 11:30 to 12:30, the Espai Emprèn UAB (above the bar at Plaça Cívica) will host a The Entrepreneurs’ Corner session with Utopig Studio to explore how digital projects are developed through a cooperative, hands-on approach.
