The event will take place in person at the Paraninfo of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Barcelona (Hospital Clínic), bringing together healthcare professionals, researchers, science communicators, and patient representatives to discuss the challenges of obesity prevention, treatment, and management.

The main objectives of the event are to raise awareness about the impact of obesity on health and society, share scientific advancements, and promote interdisciplinary collaboration. The event will also aim to drive strategies aligned with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), integrating perspectives from clinical, community, educational, and policy fields.

Throughout the day, roundtable discussions and debates will take place, where experts in medicine, psychology, and nutrition will analyze key topics such as the role of primary care, childhood prevention, the stigma surrounding obesity, and technological innovations in the field.

Highlighted sessions in the program include:

  • Roundtable 1: Challenges and shared responsibilities – Moderated by Gemma Salvador (Agència de Salut Pública de Catalunya).
  • Roundtable 2: Multidisciplinary approach to obesity – Moderated by Zoe Herrera (Consorci d’Atenció Primària de Salut Barcelona Esquerra – CAPSBE).
  • Roundtable 3: The patient perspective in decision-making – Moderated by Mercè Balcells (Clínic Barcelona).
