50th anniversary of the first graduating class of Chemistry at the UAB has arrived.

The event was presented by Javier Lafuente, rector of the UAB, Juan Jesús Donaire, dean of the Faculty of Sciences, and Lluís Escriche, director of the Department of Chemistry.

The programme of the event included a brief presentation on the history of the Faculty of Science and the Department of Chemistry, given by Jordi Bartrolí. Rosa Maria Ortuño and Clara Viñas spoke about their impressions as students, respectively, of the first promotion (1969-1974) and of the second cycle of the Degree in Chemistry when students from the University College of Girona joined (second promotion, 1970-1975) and, finally, the current dean, Juan Jesús Donaire, presented the Faculty of Sciences in recent years.

The conference offered a look back, reliving memories and shared experiences, and a reflection on the road travelled and the challenges ahead.

• Presentation of the event by Juan Jesús Donaire, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, and Lluis Escriche, Director of the Department of Chemistry.
• Very brief history of the Faculty of Sciences and the Department of Chemistry: presentation by Jordi Bartrolí based on writings of former deans Josep Font, Jordi Bartrolí and Antoni Oliva.
• Impressions, as students, of university professors of Chemistry belonging to the 1st promotion (1969-74). Presentation by Rosa M. Ortuño.
• Incorporation to the 2nd cycle of the Degree in Chemistry in Bellaterra of students coming from the University College of Girona, as part of the 2nd promotion (1970-75), by Clara Viñas, Ad-Honoram Professor, ICMAB.
• Milestones achieved and future challenges for Chemistry at the UAB, by Lluís Escriche.
• The Faculty of Sciences in recent years, by Juan Jesús Donaire.
• Conclusion of the event by Javier Lafuente, Rector of the UAB.
• Visit to some of the recently remodeled facilities of the Faculty.
