Interactive chemistry
The interactive chemistry sessions are aimed at high school students and organised by the ICE within the framework of the ARGO programme. They take place in the laboratories of the Faculty of Science during the months of January and February, in the morning, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. Each session is open to a maximum of 50 students.
Structure of the activity
The Interactive Chemistry activity will start at 9:30 am with a brief informative introduction where the importance of chemistry in everyday life will be shown and the basic aspects of laboratory safety and waste treatment will be introduced (25 min.; it will take place in the same room-exhibition). This will be followed by a virtual chemistry practice in the computer room where the behaviour of water will be simulated (45 min.). After a short lunch break (10 min.), a series of practical exercises will be carried out in the laboratories of the Department of Chemistry in groups of 12 students, supervised by a teacher (2.5 h). An eminently practical and interactive approach has been chosen with activities entitled: Environmental detectives, The detective's corner, Polymeric materials, Metals with shape memory or The cold corner.
Target group
Baccalaureate students taking chemistry subjects, preferably in the second year.
