The Departmental Council

The Departmental Council, chaired by its Director, is the collective governing body of the Department.

The members of the Departmental Council are: all PhD holders who are members of the academic staff, a representation (15%) of predoctoral students, a representation (10%) of non-PhD academic staff members, one student and a representation (5%) of the administrative staff.

The election of the representatives and their deputies shall be by free and secret universal suffrage, in accordance with the terms established in the UAB Electoral Regulations. The term of office of these representatives is 3 years.

The main competences of the Departmental Council are, among others:

To draw up and approve the Department's Regulations, elect the director, approve the list, distribution and execution of expenses.
To approve the annual report of its activities.
Proposing the publication of teaching posts and appointing the members of the selection committees.

The Executive Committee

This is the delegated committee of the Departmental Council and the ordinary governing body of the Department.

The members of the Executive Committee are the Director and secretary of the Department, the coordinators of the units, 3 members chosen by the Departmental Council (one of the, must the a student), the coordinators of economic affairs and teaching, and reserach and one member of the administrative staff.
