Notification of natural pathogens
In the case of biological agents that are of risk to humans, there is also a legal requirement to notify the employment authorities (article 10 of Spanish Royal Decree 664/97) if agents of risk group 2 or above are to be used for the first time. For more information check the UAB intranet Biosafety or contact IBC.
Working with other group 2 biological agents than those specified in the notification will be required to have a record of the risk assessment through the IBC application.

On the other hand, the manipulation of quarantine organisms (phytopathogens) for research purposes requires an express authorization from the Generalitat's Plant Health authority.
