External notifications

In accordance with current legislation it is compulsory to notify the competent authorities of any activities with biological agents that require biosafety level 2 or above (section 10 and annex IV of RD 664/1997). In the case of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), this obligation affects the four types of hazardous activities (Ley 9/2003, RD 178/2004).

In both cases, the notifications must be reviewed by the IBC before being submitted to the competent authority (labor or environmental).
