Sea Peoples Lab-GRAFO

Sea Peoples Lab is a transdisciplinary research effort that works on the socio-ecological relationships between humans and the ocean. We are interested in the implications of socio-cultural justice for advancing knowledge and instigating change towards sustainable, just, equitable and inclusive coastal developments for nature and humans.

We develop research at the crossroads of the Global North and the Global South in different places interconnected by the socio-ecological crisis. The main objective is to provide the tools to ensure a fair and equitable transition process towards sustainability for people and nature taking into account the various moral and ethical angles involved in the inherent complexity of today's socio-ecological problems, which should 'inform political decision-making under the focus of human rights and environmental rights.

Sea Peoples Lab is part of the Fundamental and Oriented Anthropology Research Group (GRAFO) of the Social and Cultural Anthropology Department of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

The coordinator of the group is Dra. Silvia Gómez Mestres.
