In Memoriam. "De lejos y tan cerca. Teresa San Román: memorias de una letra menuda"
The 2024-25 Academic Year's inauguration took place in the Faculty of Arts Auditorium on October 14, with a heartfelt tribute to and memory of Professor Teresa San Román.
The event included a speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, Margarita Freixas, and the director of the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, Hugo Valenzuela. Next, Professor Emeritus Aurora González spent a few minutes glossing over the biographical, political and intellectual aspects of Teresa's career.
Finally, Dr Manuela Cantón, from the University of Seville, delivered the conference "De lejos y tan cerca. Teresa San Román: memorias de una letra menuda", where he combined in an original and very close way different aspects of the personal, academic and social life of Teresa San Román, highlighting the enormous footprint of her personality and her work in his own work on the gypsy people, as well as for different generations of anthropology.
During the event, an emotional documentary edited by Professor Jordi Grau was screened, with testimonies from professors, colleagues and colleagues remembering Teresa.
