Reproduction

The Animal Reproduction Unit, attached to the Department of Animal Medicine and Surgery of the UAB, carries out teaching, research and knowledge transfer tasks linked directly or indirectly to the field of veterinary reproduction.

Regarding teaching, the teaching staff of the Unit teach the following subjects: Animal Reproduction, Medicine and Surgery of Farm Animals, Medicine and Surgery of Companion Animals I and II, Clinical Reasoning and Clinical Pathology of Small Animals, Equine Medicine and Surgery, Advances in Equine Medicine and Surgery and Embryonic Biotechnology Applied to Livestock. Responsibility for the training of specialist veterinarians of the European College of Animal Reproduction (ECAR). As well as participation in different Postgraduate and Masters Courses at the UAB and other Catalan, Spanish and international Universities.

Regarding research and knowledge transfer, the Reproduction Unit develops lines of research in the field of improving sperm conservation and functionality in different domestic species, improving embryo conservation and studying gestation in different domestic species, neonatology in small animals, as well as the determination of markers of malignancy in pathological processes in companion animals.
