General and Medical Pathology
The General and Medical Pathology Teaching Unit of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, is mainly related to two of the training profiles of veterinary professionals, veterinary medicine and animal health.
The areas of interest of the members of this teaching unit, in terms of the profile of veterinary medicine, include pathophysiology (which establishes the knowledge base for the further study of Special Pathologies) and Animal Internal Medicine companion, equine and farm animals, in areas such as hematology, oncology, imaging diagnostics, neurology or the exotic animal clinic. The Teaching Unit is also involved in different aspects of the animal health of wild species which, until relatively recently, received little attention and of which we now know the enormous importance they have in the transmission of diseases, due to the interaction with domestic animals.
Our research and transfer activities are developed in different thematic areas that include advice to official entities, societies and individuals in the management of wild fauna; the validation of automatic laboratory instruments for veterinary use; application of knowledge and specialization in veterinary medicine, to the care of HCV patients at the FUAB, to research in other disciplines that require collaboration and specific knowledge; training of veterinarians in the specialties of the European Colleges and transmission of knowledge to society.
The Unit is made up of the following team:
