The department

The Department of Animal Medicine and Surgery was created on September 1, 2000 and is attached to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Its purpose is to coordinate the teaching of the knowledge area of animal medicine and surgery in the Veterinary degree at the UAB. Coordinates and organizes undergraduate and postgraduate courses. In terms of research, it promotes and supports the research and knowledge transfer activities and initiatives of the Department's academic staff.

The Department organizes and develops residency programs approved by the European colleges of veterinary specialties, and is the first center in the whole of Spain where this specialty training can be carried out. It also collaborates in the postgraduate training of interns at the Hospital Clínic Veterinari. With the Department of Animal Health and Anatomy, he participates in current projects and considering new ones, as well as the doctoral program in Medicine and Animal Health that they jointly manage.
