Tribute act in memory of our teacher Sergio Calsamiglia

On the occasion of the celebration of International Bee Day, a day of beekeeping was held at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine on Saturday 18 May.

The workshop Rapid methods and automation in food microbiology is held every November at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the UAB.

A Canis lupus specimen has traveled 1,240 kilometers from Nordhorn, Germany, where it was born in 2020, to Vilaller, in the mountains of the Alta Ribagorça region, in February 2023, passing through France in 2022. The comparison of samples in genetic laboratories, including the Veterinary Service of Molecular Genetics of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), has made it possible to follow the route of this animal.

The European-funded project ClearFarm, coordinated by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), has developed and validated the first digital animal welfare monitoring platform that integrates, analyses and displays information collected by various sensors installed on farms. The resulting tool allows consumers and farmers to make informed choices about the purchase of food of animal origin and the care of animals at different stages of their lives.

Sergio Calsamiglia Blancafort, professor in the Department of Animal Science and Food, has left us. The UAB sends its deepest condolences to the family and friends and to all the people who knew and appreciated him, and shares the feeling for his loss.
