The translational and pre-clinical research group in Neuro-Immuno-gastroenterology is mainly constituted by members of the Physiology Unit of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Our line of research is neurogastroenteropology and thus we have been constituted as SGR since 1999. The evolution of the group has gradually led us to expand our line of research and take advantage of our knowledge to offer various services to the scientific community. The group's main objective is the translation of results obtained from basic research to humans and animals. Based on our experience we have expanded our portfolio of services in order to support Hospitals, Pharmaceutical Industry and other research groups to assist in the translation of research taking into account the use of laboratory animals or human biological samples.
1-Fundamental and applied research focused on gastrointestinal studies. We have developed several lines of research involving in vitro and in vivo studies. Both types of studies are aimed at the pharmacological study of neural mechanisms related to digestive motility or visceral pain. In collaboration with Hospital de la Vall d'Hebron and Hospital Germans Tries i Pujol (Human tissue) and with other gropus of research from the Vet Faculty of the UAB (animal studies).
2.- Integrated Laboratory Animal Service (SIAL). The SIAL was set up in 1999 at the UAB as a service in laboratory animal science and technology, both for the university community and for external users. It is mainly made up of researchers from the Animal Physiology Unit of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the Stabulary Service and researchers from the Pathological Anatomy, Microbiology and Parasitology Units, also of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. It integrates research groups that have been working for more than 20 years with competitive funding and researchers with more than 15 years of experience in multinational companies in the pharmaceutical sector.
