Kim Klyver (University of Southern Denmark) will present his paper “Network agency unlocks the world of advice: Entrepreneurs’ networking intensity and social skills,” alongside Mette Søgaard Nielsen (University of Southern Denmark), Mark T. Schenkel (Belmont University), and Tom Elfring (University of Liverpool).
Abstract:
In this study we seek to understand how entrepreneurs’ network agency enables first the generation of resource-rich networks (network formation problem), and second, the mobilization of those available resources (network action problem). Two components of network agency, namely entrepreneurs’ social skills and their networking intensity, are considered and a two-stage network agency model of resource mobilization is developed. The model is empirically tested using two waves of data collection from a national representative sample of nascent entrepreneurs. Implications for practice and for the theoretical understandings of network agency and resource mobilization, respectively, are discussed.
